ANY CITY, USA
This simple email, modified for the name of the actual chamber and community sponsoring the contest, and posted on PR Newswire internationally, could change the tech image and future of that place forever.
Chambers have started and assisted with innumerable place-making events and athletic and technology contests over the years. Remember the Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C.? The Miss America Contest? The stars on the Walk of Fame? The Spirit of St. Louis? The Atlanta and Los Angeles and other chambers’ helping bring the Olympics to town?
If you wish to register your chamber’s interest, write Chris Mead at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your name (with your permission) may be shared with up to 50 potential sponsors on September 1, provided you have a minimum of $15,000 in cash sponsorship toward the $25,000 prize already committed from your community.
If more than one chamber registers interest, there will be, instead, a “bakeoff” of chamber proposals with the leading candidate chosen by a panel of chamber executives, industry or academic advisers, and potential sponsors by October 15. Initial interest, however, with clear indication of local sponsor participation, must be in by September 1.
When a chamber is finally selected, its funds for the prize will be placed in an escrow account and awarded to the winner of the race in 2021.
